Maintenance
For Exterior films, periodic cleaning is recommended to maintain the film’s appearance and durability. Prefer hand cleaning with a mild, pH-balanced detergent and a soft cloth or sponge, followed by thorough rinsing with clean water. If using a pressure washer, maintain a distance of at least 300 mm, keep the pressure below 1,200 psi, the water temperature below 80°C, and spray perpendicularly (90°) to the surface to avoid lifting the film edges. Avoid abrasive tools, strong solvents and harsh chemicals. For the complete cleaning procedure and recommendations, refer to the Cover Styl Exterior Guidelines. These recommendations will maintain the film’s appearance and extend its lifespan. Persistent stains may indicate inadequate care, in which case, consider using a patch repair method (not guaranteed but effective and economical) or replacing the entire vinyl.
Installation guidance
- Cover Styl Exterior films are specifically designed for exterior applications such as building façades, cladding, panels and window frames. - Recommended substrates include ACP, anodized or powder-coated aluminium, steel, HPL and PVC/plastic, provided the surface is smooth, properly prepared and offers sufficient surface energy. - Application is not recommended on rough, porous or low-energy substrates, such as untreated wood, mineral boards, cement, concrete, mortar, natural stone, poorly adhered paint or unsuitable painted/waterproof surfaces. - Thorough surface preparation and cleaning are essential. Remove dirt, organic contamination, grease and any residues that could compromise adhesion. - Always perform an adhesion test before installation to confirm substrate compatibility and determine the appropriate primer. - Primer application is mandatory and should be applied at least around the perimeter and critical areas. For overlaps on the Advanced range, Primer+ is particularly recommended due to the protective PVDF coating. - Where possible, prefer butt joints (edge-to-edge) instead of overlaps between sheets. - Installation must be carried out between 10°C and 35°C, with 15°C to 30°C recommended for optimal application conditions. - Before installation, inspect the substrate for corrosion, damage, poorly adhered coatings or contamination and correct any issues before applying the film. - Important: Exterior applications require specific substrate assessment, preparation, installation, finishing and maintenance procedures. For complete instructions, approved installation methods, warranty conditions, durability, care and maintenance, always refer to the Cover Styl Exterior Guidelines.
